On Wednesday, August 5, 2020 the Latinx community of Silicon Valley gathered for the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley’s second Latinx Speaker Series – A Conversation with Latinx Venture Capitalists. The Latinx Speaker Series convenes the diverse sectors of our Latinx community for the purpose of coming together, and learning from distinguished speakers about an interesting subject affecting our community.
It was a year ago that we held our first Latinx Speaker Series event in downtown San Jose. In 2019, 350 members of the Latinx community of Silicon Valley were delighted to listen to Netflix’s Francisco “Paco” Ramos talk about the need to elevate the dialogue and conversation about Latinx stories in TV and movies by Latinx people and for the Latinx Community. A couple of days ago we held the second “Latinx Speaker Series – A Conversation with Latinx Venture Capitalists. The event was planned for April but became a virtual gathering due to the COVID 19 pandemic. 130 people attended the webinar and listened to four Latinx Venture Capitalists offer their insight and perspective on what it’s like to be Latinx in Venture Capital. We were delighted to partner with Silicon Valley Bank. Not only was Silicon Valley Bank our event sponsor, but they offered to match every donation we received that day 1:1. We are thrilled to announce that we raised $7,600! The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley thanks you for your support. As we continue to inspire community philanthropy and engaging people to invest in educational excellence, leadership development, and convening and engaging the Latinx community to improve the quality of life for Latino families in Silicon Valley, we invite you to connect with us through our newsletter, Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, and Twitter.
