The Latinx Scholar Chat is an interview series with our 399 Latinos in Technology Scholarship Recipients, and the President and CEO of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, Ron Gonzales. The interview series gives you a glimpse into our scholars’ lives, unveils their aspirations, and their college journey, one conversation at a time.
In this video, we welcome Sascha Zepeda, a 2019 scholarship recipient currently working at the United States Department of Agriculture Research Service as a Biological Science Aid. With a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Santa Cruz, Sascha aims to close the gender gap in computer science by instructing in our Girls Who Code Clubs. “It’s important that our young Latinx students see themselves in careers they seek. And I truly just want to help girls feel inspired to code,” she said.
As we continue to navigate through the pandemic, hearing from inspirational scholars like Sascha energizes the Hispanic Foundation to continue to do more for our Latinx community in Silicon Valley.
Friendly reminder, the Latinos in Technology Scholarship is now accepting applicants. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 19, 2021. Be sure to share! View application now.
