Paola is the STEM Scholars Program Specialist of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley. As the STEM Scholars Program Specialist she is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the Pre-LITSI Program and support of the LITSI Cultivate Phase and will oversee all aspects of the Pre-LITSI Program, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and supporting the academic and professional growth of high school seniors and community college students as they prepare to enter the LITSI program.

Paola is a first-generation Mexican-American born and raised in San José, California. Inspired by the altruistic community-building efforts of her maternal grandparents, she began her work in the nonprofit sector with volunteer experience as a high school student. She is passionate about investing her time and efforts into the development of resources that aim to uplift individuals who have been historically marginalized.

As she became increasingly aware of the issues in her Latino community, her advocacy expanded to include early childhood education, women’s rights, environmental justice, and immigration rights. Upon graduating with a B.A. in English Literature from San José State University, Paola was determined to follow through with her advocacy. She quickly began working in the nonprofit sector.

Before her role at the HFSV, she worked as a program coordinator for Think Together. This nonprofit organization focuses on students’ academic and personal development in underserved communities across California. It was this role that inspired Paola to someday return to school and become an educator.

Paola enjoys spending time with her family, walking with her dogs, cooking, and traveling in her free time.
